In 2006 European Care Group established a specialist development service - The Dementia Development Service, (DDS) led by a senior specialist in Dementia Care. The service has established links with a number of best practice organisations and in particular the world leading Universities with specialised departments for dementia of Bradford, Stirling, Edinburgh, and Bangor and with a number of other international seats of learning. Dementia expertise and training throughout the UK in care homes is currently very limited. European Care took the lead in this field and over the last 2 years has established best practice across 2000 care beds and has converted some 600 further beds from residential & nursing care to dementia care
