SJB Associates
have been working with Dr Aimee Spector a co-author of
Making a Difference”

Samantha Brittle the owner of SJB Associates was conscious of comments made at a recent exhibition at which she was displaying products from her latest catalogue.

“The book is excellent but I just don’t have time to search around for all the products needed to carry out the sessions”

“What I need is someone to do all the hard work for me and put a pack together to enable me to make full use of the book”

After discussing the idea with Dr Spector it was agreed that SJB Associates should work on putting together a full kit (£599.99 plus VAT) to cover all of the 14 sessions within the book.  Also to assist homes who either didn’t have the required budget to buy all the items or already had a number of the items, a “pick and mix kit” would be available allowing homes to buy items for each of the sessions, as required. Each session can be purchased as required ranging from £9.99 to £50.98.

Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) is group intervention for people with mild to moderate dementia, which has been shown to improve cognition and quality of life and is grounded in a person centred framework. CST comprises 14 facilitated group sessions held twice weekly. Facilitators introduce themes from the CST protocol, such as food, childhood, and sounds for the group to discuss with the aim of improving memory, concentration. The main outcomes achieved are cognition and quality of life, with secondary outcomes in mood, behaviour, communication and activities of daily living.

Dr Aimee Spector facilitates training on the use of CST and aims to:

give learners an overview of how to deliver Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST). This interactive course will include a background about CST and how it can be used, research overview and detailed presentation of the treatment, including video footage of groups.

For more information about these training courses please contact Dr Spector and mention SJB Associates.
